Heading home from IHOP to SC

Dear Prayer Partners,
About a month ago I had a powerful dream where I was walking down a path and suddenly felt the power of God on me. I turned around to look and there before me (actually filling the whole room) was the Lion of Judah. (It truly was an incredible and powerful sight!) In the dream, all time stopped and He spoke to me (talk about a powerful voice J). I remember in the dream being overwhelmed by His presence.

After He spoke I awoke and remembered what He said. I kept repeating it, because I did not want to forget it. Then I fell back asleep. (Let this be a message, write it down while you remember it) The next morning I could not remember exactly what He said but did remember that it was both a command and a promise. I knew it was one of two things….either it was that I would go when He told me to and not before or He would empower me in His timing and not before.

I had forgotten that dream until yesterday.

On Monday, I went to my office and my office manager gave me her notice to leave. I was not surprised, but had known in my spirit this would happen. The thing that surprised us both was we both had a peace about it.

These last several days I have sought the Lord and what He would have me do. I have spoken to Pastor Joel and a couple of others and I believe we are to return to Gaffney for a short season.

I ask for your prayers about a couple of specific things.

1) As I have prayed I feel there is something specific God has for me in Gaffney. God has really been laying on my heart to pray for the spiritual atmosphere of Cherokee County since I have been here. Please pray for strength and boldness to walk in whatever He would call me to do there. (Truthfully, this call is more scary to me than any other part of the world….maybe that is why He is calling me there first?)

2) God has taught me many deep truths that I do feel called to share and yet at the same time know will not necessarily be received well. Again, I ask for prayers to be obedient to Him and also for wisdom to know when to speak and when to keep my mouth shut. (Do not cast your pearls before swine. Matt 7:6)

Thank you for your precious prayers. I pray God will pour out an abundance of blessings 100 fold of your time in prayer for me and the boys.

Kansas City is considered the Haunted House capital of America. Each year thousands go downtown and pay $20.00 per haunted house to be frightened. One of the best known haunts is called, The Edge of Hell. This past Friday night, I joined the evangelism group and went to witness to the crowds waiting in line to get in.
Now I have taken the class, “Sharing Jesus without Fear “and I know my Bible and love the Lord Jesus, but the thought of sharing the Gospel with total strangers (most of them drunk) outside a haunted house surrounded by haunted houses in a dark warehouse district in the center of a big city on a cold night was not the most delightful way I could imagine spending my Friday evening. But I figured if God had called me to take my kids and witness around the world, I better start practicing now.
You will never guess what I learned! They were hungry to hear about God. Yes, hungry! We were there about 3 hours and I probably spoke to a minimum of 75 people and only 2 would not let me pray for them. That means I prayed for 73 people! They loved it. They hugged me. They thanked me! What a relief!
It was fun. I fell in love with so many of them. Jeremy who was probably 18 years old said, “I need that love” when I told him that God loves him more than any love he has ever experienced. Brittany, a 5-foot petite punk rocker with a Mohawk haircut who first said she was an agnostic said, “I want to know the truth.”
One of the greatest lessons I learned in the class “Sharing Jesus without Fear” is that I am not responsible for converting individuals to Christ (that is the job of the Holy Spirit). I am responsible for sharing the love of Jesus to others by being a witness of His love to me. Who do you know who does NOT want love? God’s love is more than we can even begin to understand. He created us. He uniquely created you. He knows every good and bad thing about you AND He still loves you! He is waiting for us to turn to Him and receive His love. If you haven’t received His love, just pray and ask God to show you the truth and His love, and then watch how wonderfully God reveals Himself to you.

God speaks to Hatcher

Dear Prayer Partners,

This is a special email going only to a few who I know are strong prayer warriors. God has blessed us so here. After our 2nd day of class, Hatcher announced, “God spoke to me today.” I truly almost ran off the road. During class, God spoke to Hatcher to look up a passage in relation to what was being discussed, Habakkuk 2:12….Habakkuk!

I am overwhelmed how God is answering my prayers. This weekend Reid received his prayer language….wow! The boys and I had a great discussion about praying in tongues…what a gift to be able to share that with my children. That night Harrison prayed for God to pour out spiritual gifts on him.

We are all learning many deep things of God. There are many in our class who were called here in very similar fashion to us. Our class consists of over 200 people from 5 continents, 16 countries and 26 states.

I am including two documents for you to read. One is a sharing of a small bit that I have learned that warmed my heart. I will write more later because there is so much more I am learning. The other is a document on human trafficking…it is a powerful document that will pierce your heart to the core. It is not easy to read. During the session that Benjamin Nolot taught this on, he could not finish his speech and the entire audience (about 300-400 people) burst into weeping and wailing for these poor victims. I have experienced a weeping in my spirit for others before, but have never been in a corporate environment where the weeping was from God to all of us. Needless to say it was an incredible experience that has deeply touched my heart.

Lastly I ask you to join me in praying for Monty and Cheryl, our neighbors behind us who are delightful neighbors yet do not know the Lord. I can see the searching in Monty’s eyes and God has laid him on my heart to witness to him and pray for him.

IHOP Kansas City Missionary Conference

Some great truths:
Derrick Loux spoke at one of the conferences and told about the history behind the disciples and Jesus’ relationship that were so dear to me, I wanted to share it with you.

Because Jesus was called “Rabbi” (which means teacher), that probably meant that not only did he go to the normal school where all boy’s graduated from, which would have been to the age of 13. He also went to a higher schooling that was only for those who did well in the regular classes. He would have been a disciple of another Rabbi (can you imagine being Jesus’ Rabbi?) for several years until He was pronounced knowledgeable enough to teach his own disciples.

The normal procedure to become a disciple of a Rabbi was that you “applied” or asked the Rabbi if he would teach you. The Rabbi would then assess your skill, knowledge, ability, etc and determine if you were worthy of being taught by him. Of course it was the desire of every Jewish mom that their son would be taught by a great Rabbi and maybe be the chosen one (the Messiah).

What makes Jesus and His disciples so unique is that Jesus called them. They did not ask Him! They were dumbfounded that a Rabbi would call them. This gives new, deeper meaning to John 15:16, “You did not choose me, I chose you….” Even more interesting and quite humorous is the fact that the disciples were probably only about 15-18 years old. Imagine twelve teenage boys hanging out all the time together or trying to be the patient teacher to them….I don’t think life was boring there. It helps me better comprehend the constant fight between them about who would be greatest (I know that from watching my 3 boys…it’s a guy thing J).

Derrick Loux suggests that Jesus may have actually been playing with them a couple of times in the Bible. Look at Luke 9, the disciples come back from a time of great power and healing (thanks to the power of Jesus), then when faced with 5000 hungry men, Jesus tells the disciples, “You feed them.” I imagine Jesus was tired of hearing all the “let me tell you what I did” stories they were telling each other.

My favorite is right after that, when Jesus walks on the water…see Mark 6:48. Jesus saw the disciples straining on the oars and waits until the fourth watch (or almost morning) to go to them. Can’t you just see Jesus sitting on the hill shaking His head and giggling at them? He walks out to them and actually almost walks past them….I envision Him saying, “Hey guys!” as He walks past and watches their mouths drop open, while Jesus grins at them.

What hit me most in understanding the young age of these disciples who were common everyday kids is that Jesus had to be a lot of fun to put up with them. Remember, these were not the studious ones who went to higher training, they were sent into the family trade of fishing, etc. Jesus chose everyday common folk, like you and me. He laughed at their follies and put up with their pridefulness and foolishness, just like He puts up with and even laughs at ours. Isn’t that reassuring?

In Luke 21:15 when Jesus reinstates Peter, the original word used the first two times Jesus asks is “agape”. Peter responds to Jesus, “I love you filial” Filial love is a brotherly love, agape love is a higher more encompassing love. Jesus is asking Peter if he loves Him to the point of sacrifice. Peter is saddened and shameful because he has already proven to Jesus that he does not because Peter denied Jesus. The third time Jesus asks Peter if he loves Him, Jesus uses the word filial. In other words, Jesus says, “I will accept your brotherly love and reinstate you because that is what you can give me now.” Jesus then goes on to tell Peter in the next verse that Peter will grow into a higher love because Jesus will teach him as the years go on. Jesus offers us this same promise. Love Him the best we can, give Him all we can, follow Him and He will take us to the deeper place of sacrificial love of Him.

The Call
I am a widow with three boys (ages 11, 9, and 6). On the day of my husband’s death, I had a personal encounter with the Lord and over the last 5 years have continuously grown in Him. This year the Lord called me to take my boys on a 9 month to 1 year mission trip to spread the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I firmly believe this call is for the raising up of my boys for their future calling. The Lord has shown me that our main mission is to share the gospel with local children as we travel. It is also my desire to develop in my children and myself a heart for the poor, orphaned, and lost.

How we will minister (proposed items, open to suggestion):
· Tracts in the native language
· Wordless book soccer balls and any evangelical toys we can find.
· Showing the Children’s version of the Jesus film (in local language)
· Giving out Bibles, toys, and other items as needed
· Daily tasks at the organization such as empty trash and sweep rooms
· Most importantly, we will gather as a family, lay hands on individuals and pray.
· Possibly teach seminars applicable to the organization (i.e. “how children grieve” for orphanages). I was a professional speaker for 15 years prior to my husband’s death and have been a business owner and investor for the past 26 years.

My hope is to create a variety of “natural evangelism” opportunities for us to share Jesus with anybody and everybody. For example, we visit the local park and play soccer with the local kids. After a time we take a break and tell them about the colors on the ball, give a snack, give a tract in their language for their parents, pray with them and let them keep the soccer ball to tell others.

Proposed Itinerary:
Phase 1: We have been accepted to the International House of Prayer (http://www.ihop.org/) Family Internship, a 3-month intensive program designed to draw individuals closer to the Lord. The boys will be in the Children’s Equipping Program (with approximately 30-40 other children from around the world) and as a family we will spend 10 hours per week in the prayer room interceding for others. The program teaches healing prayer, prophetic ministry and other skills needed for the mission field. I consider this our training for the mission field.

Phase 2: We will spend approximately 3-6 months travelling to various countries and visiting organizations for 1- 2 week mission trips. Our plan is to schedule visits to areas of the world where we have a local contact and an “in” to a location (orphanage, hospital, church) in which we can minister. During this phase we will also sightsee and learn of the country/area that we are visiting to broaden the education of my children.

Phase 3: We will spend 3 months in one location in a Spanish speaking country to immerse us in the language and work for a local charity while there. This phase may be in the middle of phase two in order to break up the travel time.

Currently our plan is to enter the IHOP internship August 2007. We will begin travelling in January 2008.

BACKPACKS HEADED TO LOUISIANA

Just after Katrina hit, The Village School of Gaffney collected school supplies for the children on the Gulf Coast that were devastated by Katrina. Each class collected supplies and packed them in a backpack. The backpacks are being loaded on Broad River Baptist Association Disaster Unit that is leaving with a team of men going to Louisiana to cut trees from homes and clean up yards for those that are not able. The men will be taking the backpacks to a local school to be given to the most needy students.
